Match Report: By Arun Selraj
Game: BGSC-A Vs BGSC-B/C
Date: 30th April 2006
Result: BGSC-A won
How did this report come about? While Navdeep was batting with his broken bat (mind you broken bat or not he scored plenty of runs!) a few members were recalling some of his quotes and it was decided that we ought to blog that as the season went on and here we are. Moving along to the Match report - BGSC-A team led by Bikram decided to bat first.
Dilip 'Amarnath' Chavan and Parak 'I love MIT, its exciting' Ananta opened the innings. Both were peppered with bouncers from BGSC-B/C's most successful bowler of the day Srikanth, who ended up with 3 wickets. The less written about the top order the better. It was Navdeep's day (heck it was his weekend) and there was no stopping him.
Ghaz, Ravi and Dilip contributed some valuable runs towards the total.
Ravi looked very elegant when he unleashed some glorious off-side shots. Hopefully Prashant learnt a valuable lesson that "No means no!" and that he cannot force himself on anyone. Mahes needed four other cricketers to help him 'unassemble' the "EASY Assemble" gazebo.
Special note about Navdeeps' innings - it was a great innings in that he showed everyone how to accumulate runs and run between the wickets.
Those who returned after a long lay-off performed considerably better than the ones who have been active indoors (pun intended). I lost my notes while we were fielding so I have to do this from memory.
Bikram, Mahes & Sameer were the most successful bowlers for BGSC-A with two wickets each. Abhi played a great knock and was unfortunate to end up on the losing side. The joint MOM is Navdeep and Abhi for their batting. While Navdeep scored 63, Abhi fell one short of a well deserved 50. As the MOM award they get to play the next game. To top it all was the food.....(note to self -- bring beer).
I want to end this with a quote from Navdeep, "I am a friendly kind of a guy, not a league guy".
